Credit Analysis Dashboard

Conceptualized, architected, and designed a new dashboard data aggregation and analysis tool, completely unique to the industry. The mandate was to provide tooling allowing a small team to do the work of what had historically required dozens of people and weeks of time, in minutes instead of days. Some of the notable achievements of the tool included integration, normalization, and analysis of multiple disparate data sets, linkages with Slack allowing near real-time feedback, and a complete evolution of the end user experience when compared to comparable tools in the industry.

The Problem

The business needed a way to empower its small two person team of analysts to be able to compete with much larger, better resourced competitors in the industry.

Numerous ideas were floated at the executive level. Ultimately, working side by side with PM and through an exploratory process we were able to determine the actual needs of the business, define the problem they were looking to solve, and come up with solutions.

The Process

• Initial problem statement definition from leadership

• Interviewing internal subject matter experts as well as reaching out to friendly resources in the industry

• Competitive analysis and capture of comparable industry-wide solutions (Mood board style exercise)

• Engagement with engineering to define limitations/set expectations

• Create initial mockups/wireframes/clickthroughs and share them with stakeholders, getting feedback early and often

• Refine designs based on feedback, ensure engineering is onboard and comfortable with direction

• Continue to refine, engagement, and begin development.

• Build out, QA, and launch!

The Solution and Results

Through numerous feedback sessions, interviews, and discussions, we were able to build a solution that removed friction from the review process by aggregating datasets and allowing the system to make cursory determinations. This enabled the analyst to write and submit the credit review in seconds via the integrated notes and chat system, increasing his productivity by orders of magnitude. Once submitted, the bond buyer would be notified via Slack and was able to make a purchasing decision immediately instead of having to wait hours for approval. This enabled the small team to successfully manage over $150 million dollars in assets and set up the team to eventually scale up to its lofty $100 billion/AUM goal.
